Growing up in Nigeria, chores were a shared responsibility in my home. My siblings and I each had our portion some days we did them happily, other days, not so much.
I also remember families in our community who brought young girls or relatives from the village to live with them, helping with chores in exchange for care or opportunity (such as education, shelter and feeding, sometimes learning handwork too). Some were treated kindly; others, less so.
In other homes, women, sometimes elderly, in their 30s or 50s came by every weekend to clean, do laundry, and tidy up. Some even carried their babies on their backs while they worked.
And then, there were the women who did it all themselves; caring for children, cooking, cleaning, washing, and keeping the home together. Looking back now, I realize how exhausting that must have been.
A home should be a place of rest, not exhaustion. It should be where peace begins, not where stress multiplies.
That belief is one of the reasons UloHelps was born.
The Meaning Behind UloHelps

Ulo means home in the Igbo language of Eastern Nigeria. UloHelps simply means home helps and to us, it means helping you find the help your home needs.
We understand the weight of running a home, raising a family, and trying to balance work and personal life. UloHelps exists so you can focus on what brings fulfillment, while we make finding domestic support simple and secure.
We are all about connection; bringing people together, building trust, and becoming a magnet for quality.
The Problem We Saw
When I think back to those women and families, one question always comes up: how did they find their domestic workers?
I realized that most were connected through informal means; word of mouth, churches, or family recommendations. These methods are often unregulated and unpredictable. One day you have a reliable worker, the next day they’re gone.
For employers, a wrong hire can mean wasted time, broken trust, and more stress. For workers, it can mean exploitation, unpaid labor, or sudden job loss.
Our founder, having lived and traveled across the world, noticed something striking; it was often harder to find quality domestic workers in Nigeria and Africa than in many developed countries. The skilled workers exist. The employers who value them exist. But there is no organized, trustworthy way for them to find each other.
That’s the gap UloHelps is filling.
